Led by Adam Kleinman and Andros Zins-Browne, this evening walk on the Williamsburg Bridge riffs on Sonny Rollins’s late-night practicing to explore “being private in public” and withdrawal as an artistic and political strategy. Echoing figures like Tina Turner, Jack Whitten, and David Hammons against the backdrop of downtown real estate, performance and music histories, the group follows a largely silent, placard-led narrative, moving from active listening to interweaving hums. The walk culminates at the small inner overpass -the “bridge within the bridge”- where amongst the voices of passing cars, subways, and other pedestrians, the hush opens into a shared burst of collective dissonance.
