Regina José Galindo (b. 1974) is a visual artist and poet whose main medium is performance. She lives and works in Guatemala, using its context as a starting point to examine and denounce the ethical implications of social violence and injustices related to gender and racial discrimination, as well as human rights abuses arising from the endemic inequalities of contemporary power relations.
Galindo received the Golden Lion for Best Young Artist in the 51st Biennial of Venice (2005), among many other prizes, and has exhibited both solo and collectively in major museums and international exhibitions worldwide.
