

Ian Cooper is Jordan Peele’s producing partner and the Creative Director of Monkeypaw Productions. With a primary focus on the feature film slate, Cooper oversees the tactical, budgetary, visual, and conceptual underpinnings of all Monkeypaw films from inception, development, and all the way through execution and release. His scope of oversight extends to all Monkeypaw ancillary projects, including publishing, events, and exhibitions. A PGA-accredited, hands-on creative producer, Cooper’s resume includes Peele’s 2022 sci-fi/horror epic, "Nope," as well as 2019’s doppelgänger family horror, "Us." For Monkeypaw, Cooper produced Justin Tipping’s fever dream football thriller “Him,” Dev Patel’s action revenge quest “Monkey Man,” Nia DaCosta’s reboot of the social-horror classic "Candyman," and also served as an Executive Producer on Henry Selick's Afropunk stop-motion animated feature, "Wendell & Wild."He has overseen the execution of Peele’s comprehensive annotated screenplay books, the limited edition vinyl releases of all Monkeypaw’s original motion picture soundtracks, and two esoterically curated screening series at New York’s Film at Lincoln Center. In coordination with the release of Peele’s “Nope,” Cooper produced “Jupiter's Claim” — a drive-through reimagining of the film’s amusement park set as a permanent addition to the Universal Studios Hollywood Tram Tour Experience. Ian is also a writer and visual artist with a practice in mixed media sculpture. He holds an MFA from Bard College, has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad, and his work has been acquired by several institutions, including the permanent collection of The Whitney Museum of American Art.
